SUBJECT:Sundeck Bartender
Like most people, I go to my health club during the summer. Not to work out but to lounge around on the sundeck and get hopelessly drunk.
One of the bartenders seemed to have no interest in making my drinks so I decided to do what I do best:
[Club Manager]
[Nice Chicago Sport & Social Club]
[Address]
Chicago, IL 60610-4099
Dear Mr. [Manager],
I am writing to apologize for not leaving any gratuity to the bartenders on Friday July 4th, on the [NAME] Club sun deck.
Since I am usually much more generous, and believe my experience is far from unique, I feel compelled to write of the details.
[NAME], my bartender, is the subject of my complaint. His attitude, general ineptitude and utter lack of respect toward his customers reminded me more of my experiences at suburban diners than at one of Chicago’s most elite institutions.
I do not require velvet glove service at the sun deck. What I do request, and have received in the past is prompt, friendly service in the order in which I arrived. What I received from [NAME] were deliberate oversights of my desire to order a beverage, and lines such as: "Whaddya want?" and "C'mon! C'mon!"
Judging by the small-talk with other members experiencing a similar plight, I do not believe myself to be overreacting.
Please immediately dismiss this person from client-facing work for every day that you permit this abuse to continue is a blemish not only on your judgment but also a brand that you have spent over two decades refining.
Sincerely,
